Although colon cleansing has been practised for thousands of years already, it has felt that in recent times it has crept into everybody’s home and dropped a bombshell through the numerous ads that can be seen in TV, magazines and newspapers. Some call it the colon cleanse hype, but its about time that people get to know the dangers of having a dirty colon, and this media buzz may just be what is needed to make people aware of this.

Total Colon Cleanse
Back a while ago I witnessed a friend of mine drop a considerable amount of weight in a short period of time. I was curious to discover his secret as I had been struggling for quite a while to lose the excess fat from my pregnancies (yes plural).
He told me about a body-cleansing program. I said, “Oh a colon cleanse? Yes I have heard of them”. He said no that it was a completely natural total body cleanse.
Why do we need to cleanse?
My first thought was… why the heck do we need that? So I started to study this process of cleansing and detoxifying the body. Here is what I learned:
North – Americans are sicker now then they have ever been. Why? Well for one, we are in a state of nutritional deficiency; just take a look at what we eat. How nutritious is the fast food that we eat? Honestly. Even the food we get in the grocery stores has to be fortified. Our fruits and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides. The meat we eat has been injected with antibiotics.
Additionally, toxins and chemicals in our environment are being linked to diseases. Ongoing studies are linking toxins to diseases like cancer, autoimmune diseases, birth defects, pulmonary disease, cardiovascular diseases and now obesity.
Our convenient lifestyle has come at a cost – our health. Would you have purchased bottled water ten years ago? Why do we do it now? Is the tap water not safe to drink anymore?
OK so what is the Total Body Cleansing process?
Also known as detoxification, the body cleansing process is a treatment aimed to rid the body of the harmful impurities and chemicals that we ingest on a daily basis. These built-up impurities can cause your internal organs to slowly clog and deteriorate, and you may not even know it.
While different forms of the detoxification regiment exist, the overall aim is to achieve a chemical-free diet, consisting mainly of foods that are high in vitamins, nutrients, and anti-oxidants. As toxins enter our bodies, the body’s natural response is to coat these toxins with fat and water… yuck, what a thought! This is our body’s way of protecting our organs from the toxins. As we ingest more toxins, the body creates more fat cells to protect you.
Have you ever tried to lose weight, only to be disappointed? Well perhaps now you know the reason why. Colon Cleanse Provides A Wide Range Of Benefits
Colon cleansing has been in the news among health enthusiasts for some time because it can offer relief for a variety of symptoms. The reason for this is that the intestinal tract commonly becomes impacted with fecal matter, which in turn releases toxins (poisons) into the bloodstream. While constipation is obviously a primary symptom of this state of affairs, other symptoms can be traced to the released poisons.
Some of the symptoms that have also been connected to an impacted bowel include headaches, fatigue, depression, and allergy symptoms. Weight gain and an inability to lose it are also associated with an impacted bowel. In addition,people report nervous symptoms like irritability and "walking around in a fog." The traditional methods have included increasing the fiber in the diet while taking laxative herbs, such as Cascara Sagrada or Senna. A lesser known method, oxygen based colon cleansing, is also taken orally, but does not work on the same principle as the fiber and herb method. This method uses an "oxidation reduction" type of chemical reaction to melt away the material in the bowel. Because the reaction gives off oxygen, which is then absorbed into the body, it is healthful and energizing.
Another option in traditional treatment of an impacted bowel is to take enemas or colonic irrigation. These methods force water, herbal teas, or other medications up into the digestive tract through a tube inserted into the rectal cavity. Colonic irrigation goes farther up into the intestines than does an enema. It should be done by a licensed professional. Obviously, this is an unpleasant matter at best, but can be helpful when used in conjunction with oxygen based colon cleansing.

Why is everyone and his uncle thinking of cleansing their colon? There are even infomercials on TV about it now. We often live such an unhealthy lifestyle, eating junk food, coffee all day and sitting in front of the computer or TV that it’s no wonder we seldom have a daily bowel movement.
We wash our bodies every day but forget to cleanse the inside, not just the outside. Cleansing your colon will help eliminate all the excess waste that has been sticking to the insides of your colon. It will leave you feeling more energized and ‘lighter’ and your bowel movements now have a chance to become regular and natural as the ‘pathway’ has now been cleared. Your health has been given a boost and a fresh start.
So when and how often should we cleanse our colon? Well, several times a year is good. It’s a good tip to do it when a new season begins. Spring sees a lot of us cleaning our house thoroughly, we should consider some internal spring cleaning in our bodies!
Now the question is how to colon cleanse, how to do it safely and easily. There are many products on the market, in fact it’s sometimes difficult to know where to begin. One of the most common causes of stomach and colon problems is a lack of fiber, Start everyday with a glass of warm water with a few drops of fresh lemon, follow this by a mug of nettle tea. Colon Cleanse Herbs
Ayurveda has been used for many centuries in India and is an ancient natural healing system. It is a blessing that this form of healing is now popular in so many places on the planet. This healing system is is quite unique but also very simple. With regard to colon cleansing, Ayurvedic medicine considers the whole GI tract and uses three unique colon cleanse herbs.

Amalaki (which also goes under the name of Indian gooseberry) has the following properties: sweet, sour, bitter, pungent, astringent and cooling. It is choc full of antioxidants and even has twenty times more Vitamin C than an average orange.
Haritaki is quite bitter and importantly has five out of the six flavors of Ayurveda.
Bibhitaki is sweet, pungent, bitter and astringent and warm. This fruit contains a whopping 40% protein and 35% oil.
These three fruits are combined and known as ‘Triphala’ and this Ayurvedic internal cleanser and has the following benefits:
Remove toxins, gas, bloating and distention of the stomach
Detoxify all body systems
Regulate and vitalize metabolism
Nourish the nervous system, blood and muscle
Increase digestion, assimilation and reduce fat
Ayurveda is still used in India today and has grown in popularity so much that it is available in most countries of the world. This is mainly because it works! This is definitely something to think about when you are looking at colon cleansing herbs.
